CAPE TOWN - The case against a University of the Western Cape (UWC) IT administrator accused of raping at least 18 boys has been postponed at the Blue Downs Magistrate Court.

The man faces charges of rape and sexual assault involving children aged between eight and 13.

Officials say the case is still under investigation and additional charges may be added.

The 47-year-old Eerste River man is believed to have lured his victims into his home with the promise of games and outings to a local theme park.

Community members previously told Eyewitness News the man is believed to have been sexually assaulting children in the area for nearly 20 years.

UWC has also launched an internal investigation after the rape allegations surfaced in January.

The suspect will remain in custody at Pollsmoor Prison until his formal bail application in two weeks.
