CAPE TOWN - The case against a youth accused of raping and killing a woman in Bredasdorp has been postponed.

Delwigo Ward (19) appeared in the local magistrates court yesterday and is due back in the dock on Monday.

Sulnita Manho's body was found in a building at a Lime Works factory in the early hours of Saturday morning. She'd been badly beaten.

This is not the first tragedy to stun the small Overberg town.

Last year, 14-year-old year old Elda Japhta was murdered by her 27-year-old boyfriend. In the same year five-year-old Kayde Williams was also raped and murdered.

In 2013, the rape and killing of 17-year-old Anene Booysen made international headlines.

Since Booysen's murder, about R3 million has been spent on addressing Bredasdorp's social ills including violence, alcohol abuse and unemployment.

A multimillion rand skills development centre has also been built and dedicated to Booysen.
