How to avoid flu this season
A medical scheme says getting a flu vaccination is one of the most effective ways to fight off flu viruses.
CAPE TOWN - A local medical scheme has given South Africans tips on how to protect themselves from colds and flu as the seasonal changes, bring colder weather conditions.
Profmed says getting a flu vaccination is one of the most effective ways to fight off flu viruses, which make the rounds each year.
The organisation's CEO, Graham Anderson, says taking probiotics, a healthy diet and sufficient sleep are also helpful when it comes to fighting colds and flu.
"Keep the body well hydrated and eat healthy foods. It's good practise to keep the body strong to fend off these viruses and this includes drinking plenty of water - at least six to eight glasses a day."
