JOHANNESBURG - United States presidential hopeful Donald Trump has been accused of using the argument technique of a five-year-old during CNN's Republican town hall event.

The news channel's Anderson Cooper asked Trump to explain why he shared a photograph of his own wife next to that of his rival Rafael Edward 'Ted' Cruz.

Cooper asked Trump about a tweet he sent with the unflattering picture of Heidi Cruz compared to a more flattering image of his own wife.

Trump's response was, "I didn't start it."

The following exchange then followed.

Trump remains the front-runner of the Republican Party as America heads towards next years' elections.
