JOHANNESBURG - The father of slain soccer star, Senzo Meyiwa, has lashed out at his son's former girlfriend.

The parent has accused Kelly Khumalo of wasting no time in moving on with her life, while the footballer's relatives are struggling in the wake of his murder.

The Bafana Bafana captain was shot dead in 2014 during what was then thought to have been a robbery at the Vosloorus home of Khumalo's mother.

The Hawks have denied media reports quoting unnamed sources saying a suspect will be arrested soon.

An upset Sam Meyiwa says he doesn't understand why his son's former girlfriend never called him after his child was killed.

"I don't know how it came about - me being the only one identifying the suspects when there were people present in the house. This girl, who was dating Senzo, should be helping me."

When Eyewitness News called Khumalo, her sister replied that she won't comment on any allegations.

Meanwhile, Meyiwa acknowledges the family has been battling, both emotionally and financially.

He says they've approached the Premier Soccer League, requesting a personal loan while they wait for Senzo's policies to be paid out.

Meyiwa says he is awaiting a response from the league.
