WC clamps down on prostitution, illegal liquor sales
The operation is being carried out by the City’s Vice Squad and Liquor Enforcement Unit.
CAPE TOWN - Members of the City of Cape Town's Vice Squad have arrested four women on prostitution charges during a raid at a suspected brothel in the Cape Town CBD.
The Vice Squad, along with the Liquor Enforcement Unit, recorded several successes this week during a series of operations focused on prostitution and illegal liquor sales.
During the search, a male client escaped by jumping from a bedroom window on the second floor, fracturing his leg.
The City's JP Smith says, "He smashed the window frame and fractured his leg upon landing on the ground and had to be taken to Groote Schuur Hospital."
In addition, 31 spot fines, worth nearly R40,000 were issued for solicitation in Brooklyn, Bellville, Macassar and Atlantis.
A further five compliance notices were issued to women found conducting their trade on the streets.
