Ipid waiting more info in Blue Downs shooting case
Investigations into 2 separate police shootings that led to the deaths of civilians will be a lengthy process.
CAPE TOWN - Police watchdog Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said its investigation into two separate police shootings that led to the deaths of three civilians will be a lengthy process.
The directorate is still awaiting technical reports and statements relating to a shooting earlier this month in the Blue Downs area in which two people were killed in an apparent case of mistaken identity.
In another incident, a woman was killed when the vehicle she and others were travelling in came under fire in Du Noon.
Ipid's Robbie Raburabu said the investigation into two police shootings, allegedly cases of mistaken identity, could still take a while.
Meanwhile, he said the officers involved in both incidents are still on active duty.
In last week's Blue Downs shooting, two McDonalds workers were shot and killed and several others wounded when police allegedly mistook their vehicle as the taxi that had been involved in a filling station robbery in Kuilsriver.
Ipid is awaiting technical reports and police officers' statements in this matter.
Ipid is also awaiting one officer's statement in the Du Noon shooting which claimed the life of a Nandos worker.
In this case police also allegedly mistook the taxi the victim had been in for one that had been involved in an ATM robbery.
