CAPE TOWN - South Africa's middle distance runner Caster Semenya ran an Olympic qualifying time in the 800m of 02:00:24 at the Athletics South Africa Night Series meeting in Cape Town.

While she's happy she's going to Rio, Semenya said she needs to improve on her time.

"It's all about hard work mentality and physically. If you combine those two nothing can defeat you, so it doesn't matter who is in the race, if you're alone, at the end of the day it's all about time."

Having already qualified in the 400m and 800m events for the Rio Games, Semenya again displayed fine form in her first two-lap race of the season.
