ANC says meeting with Gupta tv station, publication was 'constructive'
The ANC complained about how ANN7 and the ‘New Age’ reported about the ruling party’s NEC meeting.
CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress (ANC) says it's now met with the newspaper and the television station owned by the Gupta family - after complaining about how they were reporting about last weekend's ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
The ANC had said it was insulted by how the New Age and ANN7 had claimed there were generals, rebels and president's men within the party.
It also claimed that there was a move to suspend Jessie Duarte from the position of ANC deputy secretary general.
The ruling party's Khusela Sangoni says it was a constructive meeting.
"ANN7 and the New Age, while standing by their story, have agreed to publish an apology to the ANC for those reports."
