CAPE TOWN - Some Philippi East residents have called for an increased police visibility in the area.

A small group of residents took part in a protest march yesterday against high crime levels.

Resident Unathi Mnyanda says she wants more police in the community.

"Our problem is that they don't attend to what we need. When you call them and say there is a break in at our house, they don't attend. They say it's dangerous for them or they say there are no vans available."

The march was led by the Democratic Alliance (DA).
