CAPE TOWN - A World Bank report says about 20,000 people have died at the hands of terrorist group Boko Haram in north-eastern Nigeria.
The report shows the militant group's reign of terror has also cost the Nigerian government almost $6 billion since it launched its insurgency in 2009.
The report was compiled following an assessment as part of a programme involving the World Bank, European Union and the United Nations with six north-eastern states.
Assessments in states affected by the insurgency were carried out in areas including education, healthcare, water, sanitation and housing.
