Mbeki praises Mentor ‘as an activist, a valued MP’

Mentor claims a member of the Gupta family offered her the position of minister of public enterprises.

JOHANNESBURG - Former President Thabo Mbeki has praised former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament (MP) Vytjie Mentor describing her as an activist and a valued MP.

Mentor has made damning allegations on Facebook about the Gupta family who she claims offered her the position of minister of public enterprises after Barbara Hogan was re-deployed in 2010.

The social media post also claims that the offer came with conditions, including that Mentor scrap the South African Airways's India route to allow the Guptas to take over the service.

She further alleges that the Guptas offered her the post, while President Jacob Zuma was in another room, at the Gupta's residence in Saxonworld.
