CT traffic officer arrested for alleged drunk driving

CAPE TOWN - A traffic officer has been arrested following a high-speed chase in Kuils River.

Officials manning a roadblock tried to pull over the man at the weekend after he was spotted driving without his headlights on.

When he refused to stop, a chase ensued. He eventually came to a stop.

It's believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town's JP Smith said weekend operations saw dozens of arrests.

"The City of Cape Town traffic services and their counterparts Metro Police arrested 207 suspects in the last five days in a series of operations across the Metropolitan, much of this happened in roadblocks which included the arrest of 155 suspects, 138 of them for drunk driving."
