Buffalo City Municipality mismanaged over R1 billion since 2011

CAPE TOWN - The Buffalo City Municipality has mismanaged more than R1 billion since 2011.

The Eastern Cape metro is unable to account for more than R1.2 billion and the municipality has launched an investigation.

Buffalo City Municipality spokesperson Sibusiso Cindi says, "Since 2011, up until now, there's about R1.2 billion that needs to be investigated."

Of the R1.2 billion, R132 million was allegedly mismanaged in the current financial year.

Last year, the Buffalo City Municipality was the worst performing metro in the country with irregular expenditure exceeding the billion rand mark.
