HARARE - Low cost airline FastJet says it will start flying twice a week from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls later this month.

The airline has been expanding its Zimbabwean operations since it started flying to Harare from Dar es Salaam in 2014.

Any initiative to get South African tourists to Zimbabwe is likely to get Zimbabwean officials smiling.

FastJet says the flights from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls are scheduled for Fridays and Sundays.

The airline says on its Facebook page that a one-way ticket will cost $130, including taxes.

Its first flight will be on 25 March, and it's offering passengers a $30 discount on bookings made before then.

Holiday visits to Zimbabwe may prove less attractive at the moment because of Zimbabwe's strong US-dollar currency.
