Jayden Smith murder suspects to appear in court today

The Parkwood community has reiterated it will be deeply unhappy if the court grants the suspects bail.

CAPE TOWN - Two men accused of the murder of a 10-year-old Parkwood boy are expected to apply for bail in the Wynberg Magistrates Court today.

Enrico Harrison and Selfiro Petersen will be making their fifth appearance.

The pair were arrested shortly after Jayden Smith was killed in a gang shooting in January.

The child's father was also wounded during the shooting.

The Parkwood community has reiterated it will be deeply unhappy if the court grants bail to Harrison and Petersen.

On the other hand, relatives of the two men are hopeful the pair will be released from prison.

They were arrested hours after Smith was gunned down outside his home at the end of January and have been behind bars ever since.

Last month, after the pair had briefly appeared in court, Petersen's relatives confirmed to Eyewitness News that the shooting was gang-related.

There has been a spate of deadly gang shootings in Parkwood and surrounding communities since this incident.
