CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town says the removal of dead fish from the Zeekoevlei Lake will continue until Wednesday.

More than 15,000 dead carp were removed over the weekend.

City authorities say the low water levels and warmer temperatures have caused the fish to become too stressed, causing their death.

The city's Julia Wood says there's still an estimated 10,000 dead fish to remove.

"At the moment things are looking good on site, we've managed to clear a lot of the fish out of the water and we are transporting them. There aren't more fish dying so it has been contained. We are hoping by Wednesday that we will have managed to remove all the fish."
