Magoebaskloof accident claims 10 lives

JOHANNESBURG - Ten people, including a baby, have been killed in a bus accident in Magoebaskloof this afternoon.

The Sunday school bus was travelling from Moria to Phalaborwa when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Forty others, including adults and children have been injured, 10 of them critically.

The Department of Transport's Kagiso Mootane says the cause of the accident is being investigated.

"Ten people have died; nine elders and a minor. The injured were taken to various hospitals."

Furthermore, six school children and a driver were killed when their mini bus taxi crashed between Nqamakwe and Tsomo in the Eastern Cape yesterday.

The pupils from the Zweliwelile High School include five boys and one girl.

The police's Jackson Manatha says eight others have been hospitalised.

"They were from a match in Nqamakwe and no one knows exactly what happened."

Also yesterday, six more people, including a seven-year-old boy, were killed in an accident in the Free State.
