Woman who shot smash-and-grab suspect 'extremely traumatised'
It’s understood the woman shot the alleged robber during an attempted smash-and-grab attack in Cape Town.
CAPE TOWN - Metro Police say a female motorist has been left traumatised after she shot and killed an alleged robber.
It's believed the 16-year-old boy was shot during an attempted smash-and-grab attack near Bonteheuwel yesterday afternoon.
It's understood the motorist reacted, drew her firearm and opened fire.
Traumatised by the incident, she immediately drove away from the intersection.
Metro Police deputy chief Yolande Faro said she then reported to the Bishop Lavis Police Station.
"She is extremely traumatised at the moment and she is receiving trauma counselling."
In December, officials ranked part of Jakes Gerwel Drive, Military Road in Steenberg, Stock Road and the R300 in Mitchells Plain as some of Cape Town's notorious smash-and-grab hotspots.
