Train derailment causes delays in Cape Town
Metrorail says a wheel came loose and resulted in the carriage going off the tracks.
CAPE TOWN - Delays are expected on the northern line this morning after an empty train carriage derailed between Stikland and Bellville.
The train was en route to Huguenot Station.
Metrorail Riana Scott said a wheel came loose and resulted in the carriage going off the tracks.
Scott said no injuries have been reported. She said technical crews are on scene.
"There are train shuttles operating between Kuilsriver and Strand station and train shuttles operating between Kuilsriver and Muldersvlei. Some trains might have to be rerouted and we're asking commuters to check announcements in this regard."
