INCIDENTS OF RAPE
There have been three rape incidents reported in the vicinity of Rhodes Memorial since December - one other was an attempted rape.
In the latest, the university said the student was raped repeatedly for about five hours.
A female student was crossing a pedestrian bridge near the M3 towards Rhodes Memorial when she was abducted and raped in the bushes.
Last month, the institution warned students and staff to avoid the area around Rhodes Memorial due to a series of attacks.
UCT's Kylie Hatton said police told the university the attack appears to be committed by a serial rapist who is most likely responsible for the three other incidents.
