80 people homeless following blaze in CT

A fire ripped through an informal settlement in Crossroads and destroyed at least 34 structures.

CAPE TOWN - About 80 people have been left homeless after a fire ripped through an informal settlement in Crossroads.

Firefighters responded to the scene at around midnight.

City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service's spokesperson Theo Layne says the cause of the blaze is still unknown.

"Just after 12am we responded to a fire in Crossroads where 34 informal structures were destroyed by a fire. No injuries or fatalities were reported."
