JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has called on the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) to take immediate action and defend workers at eNCA who are allegedly being prohibited from forming a trade union.

Employees are fighting against what they say is an anti-union sentiment at the broadcaster after their attempts to form a workers forum were allegedly shut down.

The Communication Workers Union has said it will approach the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration over the dismissal of an eNCA employee who claims he was axed for organising his colleagues to form a union.

But the broadcaster has denied the allegations and says the man was fired for making defamatory claims against the company.
