CAPE TOWN - Protests are continuing at the University of the Western Cape where cleaning staff are demanding an end to outsourcing.

Among their demands, staff are calling for a R10,000 salary increase.
The university's Luthando Tyhalibongo says while the situation is calm on campus, security officials remain on high alert.
"Classes have continued today without disruptions. They are continuing to monitor the situation and our security staff remain on high alert. A small group of cleaning staff continued to sing outside the administration building."
Yesterday, protesting workers stormed lecture halls and ransacked the campus, leaving a trail of toppled dirt bins and strewn rubbish in their wake.
