PRETORIA - Eyewitness News understands the woman who has accused former prosecutions boss Mxolisi Nxasana of sexual harassment, is herself the subject of a criminal investigation.

The City Press reported yesterday that the official is now suing the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for more than R7 million, for the pain and suffering caused by the alleged harassment.

Nxasana resigned last year after accepting a R17 million golden handshake.

He had served only 22 months of a 10-year contract.

The official making the sexual harassment claims against Nxasana is a former personal assistant of deputy prosecutions Nomgcobo Jiba.

EWN has learnt that Nxasana locked her out of his office two months after he started his term, believing she was spying on him for Jiba.

An NPA insider says the woman is being investigated by the Hawks for allegedly stealing a laptop as well as documents, which were allegedly given to Jiba.

The Hawks raided the former PA's home in July last year as part of their investigation.

The insider says these latest allegations against Nxasana are part of a set up.

The NPA did not respond to questions while the Hawks says it needs more time to respond.
