#UWC: Damage estimations & plan for 2016

| Deputy Vice-Chancellor Vivienne Lawack gives CapeTalk’s John Maytham an update on what’s next for UWC following violent protests last year.

JOHANNESBURG - Last year the University of the Western Cape (UWC) was gripped by tense and violent protests with untold damage caused.

In fact, it's estimated that the cost of the damage at the institution's Bellville campus is between R10 million and R12 million.

Classes and exams were interrupted and eventually cancelled, and the campus itself sustained widespread damage all over.

The demonstrations were sparked by #FeesMustFall protests in Gauteng.

Listen to the SoundCloud above as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Vivienne Lawack gives CapeTalk's John Maytham an update on what's next for the institution.
