Firefighters still battling blaze near Koeberg Station
The R27 has been re-opened after being closed to traffic yesterday.
CAPE TOWN - Firefighters are still battling flare-ups in the vicinity of the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town.
The extended vegetation fire started off the West Coast Road near Melkbosstrand yesterday around noon.
The R27 has been re-opened after being closed to traffic yesterday as thick smoke affected visibility.
The city's fire and rescue spokesperson Liesl Moody says firefighters will remain in the area.
"Currently there are hotspots and flare-ups that are being dealt with by the firefighters. They will still remain on scene throughout the day." Pictures: CT Photography Facebook page.
