2 killed, 24 injured in accident near Kimberley

JOHANNESBURG - Two people have been killed and 24 others injured this afternoon, including children, after a school bus, light motor vehicle and SUV collided on the R705, 50km outside of Kimberley.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, received the emergency call and immediately responded to the scene.

On arrival, paramedics found a school bus lying on its side on the side of the road.

A wrecked light motor vehicle and SUV laid in pieces across the entire scene.

On assessment, paramedics found the body of a young boy lying inside the bus and he had already succumbed to multiple injuries.

A body of a man was found lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle, who had also succumbed to his injuries before paramedics arrived.

One adult and 23 children were found on scene with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions before transporting them to various hospitals.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities are on scene for further investigations.
