Tutu Foundation to conclude investigation into Mpho Tutu's directorship
The foundation sent out a statement confirming Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu has been asked to step aside.
CAPE TOWN - The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation said a preliminary investigation must first be concluded before the future of its executive director can be determined.
Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu's daughter Mpho has been asked to step aside after the Foundation's Board determined there may be a conflict of interest.
The preliminary investigation will determine whether there's a conflict of interest between the foundation and its partners.
The Desmond and Leah Legacy Foundation sent out a short statement confirming Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu has been asked to step aside as executive director.
But the foundation would not be drawn on the details of the conflict of interest.
The Board's Don MacRobert has however confirmed a process is underway to tighten administrative procedures and practices.
This is apparently being done to mitigate the potential for perceived conflicts of interests between the foundation and its donors.
It's believed the professor has been working for the foundation on special projects.
