JOHANNESBURG - National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete has appealed to political parties to obey the rules of Parliament and allow President Jacob Zuma to deliver his speech without any interruptions.

The Economic Freedom Fighters have threatened to disrupt the address if Zuma doesn't first explain why he fired Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene in December.

Mbete says no questions are allowed in today's sitting.

"They have not come to me about anything on this particular sitting this evening. I hope they do stay within the rules. They will have to be removed should they not cooperate with the chair."
