#LilyMine: Rescue teams not giving up
Yvonne Mnisi, Solomon Nyerende & Pretty Nkambule have now been trapped in a lamp room for 6 days.
BARBERTON - The search for three Lily Mine employees resumes this morning with no clear sign of how much progress has been made in reaching the container.
Last night the rescue operation was briefly called off due to a passing rain storm while a strategy meeting was held at the mine's offices.
Yvonne Mnisi, Solomon Nyerende and Pretty Nkambule have been stuck in the lamp room since last week Friday; they were trapped when the structure collapsed into an 80 metre hole.
Rescue teams have been searching for the mineworkers for six days, but as the rain began to fall last night they were forced to resurface.
Despite their efforts, which includes removing nearly 5,000 tonnes of rock and debris, the team has not yet reached the metal container.
It's understood a team was also sent in to assess the sink hole, with concerns of another collapse.
