CAPE TOWN - A man charged with shooting dead two people and wounding several others, including a police officer at a biker rally in Hawston, is expected to appear in court today.
The 26-year-old suspect allegedly opened fire during an altercation on Saturday.
Three people, including the acting Hermanus police station commander, were wounded in the shooting.
Rounita Burgess was off-duty at the time of the shooting and witnesses say she sustained several gunshots to the head and chest.
Burgess' 19-year-old daughter, Randy, and a family friend Rudi Salo, were killed in the incident.
Two bikers have told Eyewitness News the shooting followed an altercation reportedly related to an illegal abalone deal.
Meanwhile, the two other victims wounded in the gun attack are expected to make a full recovery.
