Man (50) arrested at OR Tambo for possession of drugs
Police say the man was cornered by officials earlier this week, as he was about to board a flight to Zurich.
JOHANNESBURG - A man, believed to be a British national, has been arrested after being found with drugs worth over R50, 000 at the OR Tambo International Airport.
Police say the 50-year-old was cornered by officials earlier this week, as he was about to board a flight to Zurich.
It's understood he was carrying 26 kg of khat.
The police's Vish Naidoo said the suspect is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
"The purpose of remanding him in custody is allow investigators to conduct further investigation. One of the things is to determine how long he's been in the country and what he's been doing in the country, where those drugs were taken and so forth.
"What we do know is that he was about to board a flight for Zurich."
