CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille has written to the Presidency seeking clarity on the "confidential information" she's been accused of leaking.

President Jacob Zuma's office slammed Zille yesterday for publishing information which the Presidency says was not meant for the public.

In her Inside Government newsletter this week, she wrote that during a meeting with Zuma, premiers were told to prepare for budget cuts.

The Premier's spokesperson Michael Mpofu says the Zille wrote to Zuma early this morning.

"In the letter the Premier simply requests the President to be very clear and point out exactly what it is that she's allegedly leaked, that should have been confidential. As far as we are concerned, everything that was said in that particular meeting in those documents marked confidential has been kept out of the public domain."
