CAPE TOWN - An independent survey has found that just over 10 percent of Nelson Mandela Bay residents want Athol Trollip as mayor.

Ipsos, an independent market research company, polled almost 1,000 people in the area between September and October last year.

It's found 47,8 percent of people preferred Danny Jordaan as mayor, while 13 percent gave Trollip the thumps up.

About 35,8 percent of residents who participated in the poll were undecided about their choice of mayor.

Two other local councillors received 2,7 percent of the vote.

The research company's Ricardo Braz said, "These are not prediction as of yet. There's still a certain pair [of results] before elections take place and there has been a lot of campaigning since the survey was competed."
