WC education dept launches new language, maths strategy
It will seek to better the quality of teaching and learning to ensure improved learner performance.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department has launched its new language and mathematic strategy to improve skills in these subjects in all grades.
It will also seek to better the quality of teaching and learning to ensure improved learner performance.
Each strategy consists of four pillars which include people development, effective teaching, monitoring and evaluation and to enhance the quality of passes in the subjects, among others.
The Western Cape education MEC's spokesperson Jessica Shelver says different phases of their strategy will be implemented from grades R to 12.
"The launch of our strategy coincides with the recent release of our systemic tests, which will form a baseline for assessing improvement in various these areas. Our systemic tests are an excellent baseline for the project, from the tests we are able to identify weaknesses, where teachers need training and additional support."
