Mop-up operation underway after Worcester wild fire

CAPE TOWN - Mop-up operations are underway between Worcester and Wolseley, where a fire has been raging for several days.

The blaze has now been contained.

The fire brought down a horse stable in Elskloof and scorched some vineyards.

Cape Winelands Fire and Rescue's Heinrich Louw said, "Due to exerted efforts by Cape Winelands Fire teams we managed bring the flare-up under control. Additional resources was dispersed from Nieuwedrift to assist as gusting wind conditions prevailed.

"Three ground teams, consisting of 39 men are still on the lines busy with mopping up and the fire will be monitored throughout the day for more flare-up."
