CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) says the Gupta family has received no special treatment despite a donation to the party in 2009.

Beaufort West Mayor Truman Prince has pressured former DA leader Helen Zille to disclose the amount she received from the Guptas in the run-up to the elections that year.

The DA says Prince is trying to divert attention from his legal woes.

Prince has been accused of attempting to manipulate tenders to encourage funding for the ANC's election campaign.

He maintains he's innocent and has in turn challenged the DA to disclose a donation by the Guptas in 2009, which he's described as a "dodgy deal".

But the DA says the donation had no strings attached, adding the Guptas have never been awarded a tender or business deal by provincial government.
