CAPE TOWN - Beaufort West mayor Truman Prince has challenged the Democratic Alliance (DA) to reveal the full amount of funding it received from the Gupta family.

Prince has referred to a letter signed by Western Cape Premier Helen Zille in which she thanks the Gupta family for donating a "generous" amount prior to the 2009 election.

He says he's not buying Zille's argument that the DA accepts donations "with no strings attached".

Price's threatened to file court papers and approach the public protector.

"In return they [the Guptas] get tenders and from a public perspective, we are allowed to know how much money the Guptas handed over to the DA."

The DA has already lodged complaints against Prince and police are investigating allegations of corruption and assault against him.
