Drugs worth R1.2m seized in JHB & KZN

JOHANNESBURG - Customs officials have seized drugs worth over R1.2 million in separate busts at OR Tambo International Airport and in KwaZulu-Natal.
Yesterday, sniffer dogs intercepted two consignments destined for Budapest and Amsterdam which contained dagga and heroin.
The drugs in both parcels were valued at more than half a million rand.
South African Revenue Service (Sars) spokesperson Sandile Memela said, "It needs to be highlighted that it's the well trained dogs that actually scored these busts."
On Sunday, KwaZulu-Natal officials arrested a Malawian taxi passenger who was found in possession of heroin worth almost R800,000.
