CAPE TOWN - Cape Town police now believe a man whose body was found on a hiking trail on Table Mountain may have fallen to his death.

The body was found at the weekend by a runner.

It was initially believed he'd been stabbed to death.

The man allegedly fell while running along a trail on the Camps Bay side of Table Mountain early yesterday morning.

The police's Andre Traut said a probe is underway.

"We dealt with the scene as if it's a murder. We also went on record yesterday saying that he was fatally stabbed, but our investigation revealed that he might have fallen and injured himself. The investigation also revealed that he's a 57-year-old male and not 34."
