Clive Barker apologises for leaving Bafana job
Former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker looked back at the time his team won the Afcon Cup & says he regrets leaving the team in the manner he did.
JOHANNESBURG - Former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker has apologised to former players for leaving his post as the national senior team coach.
Speaking on 702's SportsTalk on Sunday, Barker said he shouldn't have left the job.
He said he could have stayed on and went with the team to the World Cup in France.
It's been 20 years since Bafana Bafana won the African Cup of Nations, the only major trophy the team has ever won.
It was also the first time ever that the team qualified for the World Cup, but after a series of poor results, Barker succumbed to pressure and stepped down.
