CAPE TOWN - Fresh fire fighting crews will be deployed to a section of St. Francis Bay, where a blaze has been raging since this past weekend.

Teams were on scene throughout last night.

Kouga Fire Chief Dewald Barnard says while the fire has been contained, strong winds were expected today.

Yesterday, residents fled from their homes when the flames crept closer to property in the area.

The municipality says there was no official evacuation but it is aware people in Sea Vista Township were vacating their homes.

Additional firefighters from a neighbouring municipality are being roped in to assist in the fire.
