The man was arrested for the possession, manufacturing & distribution of child porn.
JOHANNESBURG - A Johannesburg man, arrested for the possession, manufacturing and distribution of child pornography, is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein High Court this morning and is facing 935 charges, including rape and sexual assault.
The man was arrested in the Free State in 2014 and cannot be identified to protect his alleged victims.
Local police say the man's alleged criminal activities came to their attention after being alerted by law enforcement authorities in Australia and Canada.
NGO Women and Men against Child Abuse says its members will be at the Bloemfontein High Court this morning to support the man's alleged victims and their families.
The organisation's Vincentia Dlamini-Ngobese says they want to also put pressure on the court to prioritise the case.
"We actually want to see this case being taken seriously."
The police's Vishnu Naidoo says they've identified 19 alleged victims so far, who are aged between 10 and 13.
"We detected that this man was manufacturing and distributing child pornography."
The suspect's office, home and a storage facility were searched and several items such as cellphones, laptops, pornographic DVDs and girls' underwear seized.
