JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Health Department says its waiting on post-mortem results to determine how a patient at the Helen Joseph Hospital died.

The department says it's working with police to investigate the death of a 35-year-old woman, who was admitted last Friday and found dead two days later by another patient.

Her body was found in a bathtub with severe burns on her face.

Provincial Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu says, "We have to involve all the relevant agencies, including the Forensic Pathology Services to do a post-mortem. Once it has been completed, we should be able to give a proper account of what happened."

According to the hospital's records, the patient was diagnosed with heart and renal failure.
