Slain lesbian woman's family says her murder was unjustified
Motshidisi Melamu was killed in Evaton North in what appears to have been a homophobic attack.
JOHANNESBURG - While the Gauteng Community Safety Department works to fast track an investigation into the murder of a 21-year-old lesbian woman in the Vaal, her family says the attack was unjustified.
Motshidisi Melamu was killed in Evaton North last month in what appears to have been a homophobic attack.
Melamu's relatives say they're struggling to come to terms with her death.
Her cousin says Melamu had often received threats from some people in the community.
"We had accepted her at home. We didn't care what others had to say. I just want police to take action and use these people as an example, to show them that what they did as wrong."
