CT sees 20 weekend road deaths

CAPE TOWN - The provincial Community Safety Department says 20 people died on the Cape's roads this past weekend.

Four people were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a river near Bredasdorp on Sunday.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says, "The driver lost control and three people died on the spot and another in hospital."

In a separate incident near Vanrhynsdorp, one person died when two trucks collided and veered off the road down a mountain slope.

Africa says one of the trucks had been transporting farm workers.

"Two trucks collided, one person was killed and another 22 injured and taken to hospital."
