JOHANNESBURG - Sand from two 10 ton trucks has been dumped in the middle of a road near the University of Pretoria, causing major traffic delays in the Hatfield area.
Outsourced workers at the university have been protesting for higher wages and direct employment by the institution this week.
The Hatfield City Improvement District manager Dannie Basson says they have CCTV footage of a group of between seven to 10 people intimidating the truck drivers and forcing them to dump the sand in front of the university's entrance.
He says the truck drivers are currently opening a case at the Brooklyn Police Station.
"The drivers were unhurt and are opening cases at the Brooklyn Police Station currently. The CCTV footage from the city council is evident."
It remains to be seen whether this incident is in any way related to the recent protests.
