2016 Oscar nominations: 'The Revenant' leads the pack
The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has received 12 nods including best picture.
JOHANNESBURG - The nominees for the 88th annual Oscar Awards have been announced.
The glamorous event will be held on 28 February, and will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock for a second time.
"I'm so glad to be hosting the Oscars," Rock said in October last year. "It's great to be back."
The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, leads the nominations with nods in 12 categories, including Best Picture.
Many of DiCaprio's fans are hopeful that the decorated star will finally bag his first Oscar after many near-misses.
