Gordhan denies govt will bail out troubled SAA
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan says South African Airways must no longer be 'a liability'.
PRETORIA - Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has dismissed suggestions that government is preparing to bail-out troubled national carrier South African Airways (SAA).
The minister was speaking at a briefing on the special Cabinet meeting which discussed the economy and budget-related matters.
Gordhan has discussed several objectives, which Treasury has for the SAA board.
He says the carrier must no longer be a liability.
Gordon says SAA has R2 billion in government guarantees still available.
